Pharmaceutical Indigent Patient Programs Illinois Department on Aging Senior Helpline – (800) 252-8966
This program allows a physician to obtain certain prescription medications from participating manufacturing companies for eligible patients at a reduced cost or no cost to the patient. Each pharmaceutical manufacturer that chooses to participate in the Indigent Patient Program establishes patient eligibility requirements, as well as the process the physician is to follow when requesting assistance for a patient. Requests are accepted from licensed physicians only. Many doctors are unaware of the program and not all pharmaceutical companies participate. Contact the Illinois Department on Aging’s Senior Helpline for a reference guide.
