Ernie Knight, Trustee

Ernie Knight has committed over 32 years to public service, including 26 years of sworn police service with the Naperville Police Department, in various roles including DARE instructor, Domestic Violence Team, Firearms Instructor, Special Response Team (SWAT) marksman and Law Enforcement Accreditation Manager.  Ernie is currently the Commander of Professional Standards & Training (and Accreditation Manager) for the University of Chicago Police Department.  He is a part-time adjunct psychology instructor for Lewis University.  Ernie is an assessor for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and the President of the Illinois Police Accreditation Coalition.  Ernie earned a B.A. in psychology from Illinois Benedictine College and an M.S. in psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology.  Ernie has done volunteer work for the DuPage County Youth Home, Boy Scouts, the Mill Street School (Naperville) Reading Buddy Program and Special Olympics.  Ernie has been a resident of Plainfield Township since 1986.  Ernie, married to his wife Vicki for 30 years, has a son Ernie and two stepchildren Tom (married and living in Plainfield Township) and Rachael (deceased) and three grandsons Colton, Logan and Trevor.
