Michelle Smith, Clerk

Michelle Smith was appointed as Township Clerk on January 9, 2019. Before this appointment, Michelle served on the Plainfield Consolidated School Board of Education from 2009 to 2015, serving as the Vice President and President of the Board.

Currently, she serves as the Fundraising Chair for the PSD 202 Foundation for Excellence, an Ambassador of the PSD 202 Board of Education, a Lions Club member, a Co-Chair of the PACC Education Committee, and a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors National PAC.

Previously, Michelle served as the Republican State Central Committee Deputy for the 11th Congressional District, the ABC Director of Illinois, ABC Legislative Chair, an ABC National Board Member, and was active in various community organizations, including the Plainfield Junior Women’s Club and 100 Women Who Care. She was also involved with Friends for Charitable Giving, coached local and statewide soccer teams, mentored with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, served as CAPE President, and held roles on several school PTOs.

Michelle has been a small business owner with her husband, Brian, since 1989. They have four adult children—two of whom are married—two grandchildren and have lived in Plainfield since 1996.

Michelle and her family remain deeply committed to community service in Plainfield.
