Property Tax Exemptions

Attention: Renewal Applications for the Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze, Disabled Veterans, & Disabled Persons Exemptions will be available April 1st.

**Beginning with 2018 (payable 2019) the income level for the Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze has been increased to $65,000 or less.

 

Are you taking advantage of the property tax savings available through Exemptions?  Homeowners qualify for a General Homestead Exemption if the property is owner-occupied, no application is required.  This is a savings of 6,000 off of the assessed value each year and is reflected on your tax bill.

Exemptions are also available for:

  • Seniors who are 65 and older
  • Seniors who are 65 and older and have a total household income of $65,000 or less
  • Disabled Veterans 
  • Returning Veterans
  • Persons with Disabilities
  • Home Improvements

UPCOMING EXEMPTION SIGN-UP EVENTS

The Will County Supervisor of Assessments will be at the Plainfield Township Admin Building on

Friday, April 27, 2018 from 9:30am to 1:30pm to assist residents in renewing and applying for exemptions.

Similar to an open house, no appointment is needed.
